Description:
The Surgical Tech has a minimum of 1 year post program experience in outpatient surgery setting. The
Surgical Tech functions as a member of the surgical team in providing patient care to patients undergoing surgical
procedures. Duties include: preparing the appropriate instrumentation and materials for use on the surgical field, passing
instruments to the surgeon during the procedure, room turnover, acts as a resource in assigned service when requested and
other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: Any combination of education and experience that would likely
provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is
qualifying.
Education: High school graduate or equivalent required. Graduate of a formal academic program/
school of Surgical Technology or U.S Military Training program in Surgical Technology.
Experience:
Level
1: Short-term/entry level, new graduate with less than 1 year clinical experience.
Level 2: Six months
post graduate experience in an acute care experience in an academic medical center Operating Room.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Strong organizational skills and the ability to speak, write, read and comprehend
English fluently.
Desired: Recent clinical experience performing the scrub role in a minimum of 3 clinical
services
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
Able to lift a minimum of 40 lbs. Able to stand for
extended periods of time. Ability to turn, lift and move in tight areas without difficulty.
