1.0 FTE (80 hrs per pay period) M-F

This is position is in the Hand Clinic at the Stanford Clinics in Redwood City. This NP/PA will be seeing patients in the pre-op and post-op clinic and will be assting the attending in the Hand Clinic.

Nurse Practitioner:
The Nurse Practitioner functions under the general Nurse Practitioner Standardized Process Protocol approved by the Interdisciplinary Practice Committee. The Nurse Practitioner evaluates and treats patients who have undergone treatment for hematology or oncology disorders. Obtains complete histories and performs complete physical exam with assessment of normal and abnormal findings on new patients according to written protocols. Obtains interval histories and performs pertinent examinations on return patients. Performs or requests and evaluates diagnostic studies as indicated by evaluation of the patient according to written protocols. Orders and furnishes medications according to written protocols and acquires counter-signature on prescription from attending physician. Performs designated procedures according to written protocols.

Physician Assistant
The Orthopedic Physician Assistant functions under the general Physician Assistant Role Description approved by the
Interdisciplinary Practice Committee (IDPC). This job description identifies specific functions pertaining to the Orthopedic
Physician Assistant who is practicing at Stanford Hospital and Clinics (SHC) regardless of primary setting: SHC Division of
Orthopaedic Surgery, Palo Alto Medical Foundation (PAMF) or Sports Orthopedic and Rehabilitation (SOAR) Medicine
Associates. The specific functions are established by the physician assistant and his or her supervising physician, and approved
by the IDPC, Medical Board and Board of Directors.

Qualifications:
Ortho experience strongly preferred.
Hand experience preferred.

Nurse Practitioner
Current License(s) and Certification(s)
RN License, issued by the Board of Registered Nursing (BRN), required
NP License, issued by the State of CA, required
Furnishing number, issued by the BRN, required.
Certification as a Nurse Practitioner by a nationally accredited nursing organization (e.g., AANP, ANCC), preferred

Physician Assistant
Graduate of a Physician Assistant Program accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association.  
Demonstrated ability to function in collaboration with other health care professionals.
Current licensure as a Physician Assistant in the State of California is required.
